The Power of a Dream

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

This weekend I was reminded of the power of a dream.  I went to a winery which is an oasis of peace located on the mountains of Santa Catarina, the state where I am currently living.  This place is called Villa Francioni.  Visit it at

Mr. Dilor, a Brazilian of Italian descent who had the idea of building it, liked wine and had a dream – to make a great blend of wines which had a very distinct identity originated in the Brazilian terroir.

What struck me about him is that he never doubted that the project was going to be a success.  He didn’t expect to get his investment back for another 30 years and yet he didn’t blink about investing on this dream.  There was never a hesitation from his part.  He traveled all over the world to get the best ideas, the best materials, and the best enologists so that his winery would be up to par with his vision.

I was very inspired by this man’s dream.  It brought tears to my eyes to watch the short movie that shows his story.  And I was reminded of the power of a dream, the power of our vision.  A dream inspires us to do whatever it takes to make it a reality.  A dream makes us courageous, strong, and brave.  It reminds me of one of my favorite sayings:  “Go on with a spirit that fears nothing” – from Homer.

As I am going through a big change at this moment – with my move to the other side of the world – I found very inspiring to be reassured that a dream will drive us to our truth and to our success.  All we have to do is believe in it and, of course, act on it.

With energy,
